03:32 pm - Where do I even begin?
Life in Vancouver is going really well. We've more than settled into our new house... have taken over in other words. Living with 2 other boys downstairs, Tibo is awesome, Neil is creepy... the joys of a sharehouse. There are 4 others upstairs who I've heard but never seen.

Have been working fairly consistently at several places. Have got a new travel fund going for the next trip. The plan is to be in Mexico for Karlie's b'day on May 21st then to travel round Central America and South America. We'll see how well that works out!

Have had several big night out. At celebrities and more recently for St Patrick's Day. We all made shirts and dressed up and were the only ones! We had irish people coming up to us asking what part of Ireland we were from! Funny stuff and a classic night too.

Life is good really. I don't have a tv though. Or rather I have a tv but it gets 3 channels... comedy, cartoons and business network! Am so behind in all my shows but what else is new really. Will get to them all one day.

Matt is coming to visit next week and to pick up his girlfriend Elisha from the airport. Then they are going on a roadtrip before heading back to Aus. Will be good to see him again. Was talking to him on skype yesterday and he has such a mountain man beard now! so funny.

06:14 pm - I am alive!!
First off... Happy Australia Day!!!

So where to begin... I'm in Vancouver and have been here for 2 weeks now. Have found a sharehouse to live in but don't move in til Feb 1st. Currently we're staying in our landlords basement! Beats living in a hostel though! Am still trying to find work, but have 3 interviews with agencies this week so fingers crossed.

New York for christmas was amazing!!!!! I really can't describe it with justice. It was an awesome experience and I hope to go back soon. Got to see Central park covered in snow which was lovely.

Also had a blast travelling round the rest of Europe. Prague was cool and got to hang out with Teri, who I met in Krakow. Warsaw was great and got to catch up with Justyna (who I hadn't seen since London sharehouse days). Had an awesome time in Krakow (even if the atm did swallow my credit card!). Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic was cool, loved it even more when it snowed!

Then we hit Canada. Spent ages in Montreal and was there for New Years. That was really good but oh so cold!! -29 one day, that is the coldest I've ever been! James and I took a greyhound bus from Montreal to Vancouver. It took us 96 hours!!!! why we continue to do these massive bus treks I have no idea. Everyone got stranded in Calgary overnight and had to sleep in the bus station. It was due to road closures from avalanches! James and I were lucky though cause Matt lives in Calgary so was able to spend the night at his house and shower!!! Oh the simple pleasures. Was good to see him also.

Onto Vancouver and got to hang out with Drew for a few days before he flew back to Aus. Had a great few days exploring my new city. Best of all we went and saw a Canucks game! Had such an awesome time, very new experience and so much fun! After Drew left Karlie arrived. It's been action packed. Was so good to see her again after all these months.

So yeah now just living in Vancouver and trying to find work. Had a massive night out on saturday with James and Karlie, was good to all be back together again.

02:34 pm - From the road
It feels like a lifetime since I've been on here!

Am currently in Frankfurt, killing time til my bus trip to poland tonight... its going to take 17 hours!! Why do i put myself through these things?? oh yeah cause it was the cheapest option!

Had dinner at Katherina's house last night and it was awesome. Was so good to see her again. Haven't seen her since the london sharehouse days. There's a possibility that she's coming to Canada next year too.

I saw snow for the very first time (as in falling from the sky, able to taste and run around in) in Vianden, Luxembourg the other day. It was a magical day. Spent it at the castle and then wandering around the town taking lots of photos.

Having an awesome trip so far but am missing all my tv shows (as sad as that is!) Gotta go prep for the bus trip... need snacks!

08:30 am - All my bags are packed, im ready to go.....
Actually scratch that... Ive already left!! thats how crazy the last few weeks were with the funeral (which went well), last week and day of work, leqving drinks with Karlie and then my gma having a fall and being taken to hospital (same one as my gdad and really didnt want to go back there so soon!)

Anyway am currently in Ypres, Belgium. Today were going to a ceremony (by special invite only!) at La Hamel. then tonight we are attending a wreath laying ceremony at Menin Gate.

So far the tour has been good... its so weird to be travelling again though. Going back to brussels was funny. i actually saw stuff this time round not just the laundromat, bar and hostel room! :)

gotta run as tour is leaving soon. not sure when ill next be on the net...just had to go sort out people stuck in the lift right near the internet phonebooth thing!! ahh the joys of travelling

Today was okay. I only got a little bit teary at work when I had to ask for time off on Friday for the funeral. I didn't acutally manage to get out what the day off was for when asking my boss, just that I needed it!

Jas asked me how my weekend was and I told her all bout it, she's the only one at work I've talked to about it. She then went and told my boss the reason I needed the day off and next thing I know there's a bunch of flowers being delivered to me! That was lovely and such a nice gesture. Although I did get a few oh what's the special occasion? enquiries which were abit awkward to answer.

I did go and thank my boss for the flowers and tell her that I had every intention of telling her what the day off was for, I just couldn't get it out. She fully understood and told me to take as much time as I needed. Makes things so much easier them being understanding.

Family is going okay. Dad is being quiet but that's understandable. Mum thinks he's abit worried about the eulogy. Both my brothers have agreed to be pall bearers. I said I would if needed but we have enough male grandkids/relatives. When Dad asked Matt if he would Dad said you don't have to do much and Matt answered with Yeah, just not drop it! LOL Nothing like abit of levity in a sad situation.

09:50 pm
Weekend was quite good.

Got really tanked friday night at the boy's house. We were both due a massive night and that it was! Was so tired, hungover and grumpy the next day though!

Saturday was supposed to be my big shopping day... yeah that didn't happen! lol My brother did take me to buy a camera. I got it back home and realised they'd given me the wrong colour. At that point in time I really couldn't be arsed going back out there again. Mum was like just go back out there stop being lazy and, in my grumpy/tired/hungover state, I was like no it's fine, don't tell me what to do! But after staring at the silver one for about 10 mins I conceded that I really did want the black one. So my bro drove me back out again! Thanks Drewie!

Sunday was spent watching footy all day! I watched all 3 games... how good were they all?! And for Manly to win 40 - 0... awesome! Even though I like Cameron Smith I really didn't like Melbourne's attitude of late so was glad for them to lose.

Had dinner with Karlie tonight. Was the first time I'd seen her in about 3 weeks cause of me being sick and her being busy. Think that's the longest we've gone without seeing each other ever (obviously not counting when we lived in different countries!). We were at dinner and Fi & Andy just happened to turn up! That was great, was really good to catch up with them too. Karlie told me one of the most disgusting spew stories I've ever heard. It was hilarious but utterly horrifying all at the same time.

Work is going okay. I have 20 workdays left... am training my replacment at the moment. The boss asked me today how she was going. I'm like yeah she's going well it will just take time to learn everything. Then he asked by the time I go will she be able to do everything I do in a day. So I said no one could do everything I do in a day! :) Aha nothing like a bit of self praise. I'm not sure they will fully appreciate just how much I do until I'm no longer there to do it. What's that old saying? You don't know what you've got til it's gone.

Anyway going to try and go to sleep now... it's so damm hot!

This post is purely for me :)

Just spoke to my friend Justyna for the first time in about 2 years!! thank you skype... what a wonderful invention :)

Was so good to hear her voice. She still hasn't lost her irish accent. One of the first things I asked?? Can you please say marathon! :) Bwah! What times the maraton on? It's on a treee tirrrty. Absolute gold. She also cracked up when I said awesome and nahh in my aussie twang.

Was also very exciting to inform her that I'm going to poland. She was like Get Out!! That's it your staying at my house.

Ahh it may have been 2 years since we lived together in the london sharehouse but it's like no time has passed at all when talking to her. Will be awesome to catch up.

She said to me It's so good to talk to you, I can't stop smiling, It's like I have a banana in my face. LOL!

That is all... off to bed.

Man it's hot today! 35 Degrees. Guess we're gearing up for a hot summer. Kinda glad I'll miss it... although I will miss some things bout summer.

Today at the office Shane told me it was 33 degrees outside and I told him I actually got sunburnt just from him saying that! lol

Spent my day training the chick that's going to take over my role when I leave. She's worked at Suncorp before but not in this area so doesn't know much about our systems etc. Made my day very long!

Cold is getting better, ear is still blocked but feels less blocked (if that even makes sense!). Oh and I forgot to mention that I have a touch of conjunctivitis also! Always happens in 3s :)

08:52 pm - Not quite so much of a zombie
Have been sick for going on 2 weeks now. Make that 3 if you count when my back was stuffed. Am just really sick of being sick!!

Details of my sicknessCollapse )

If I have to be sick then I'm glad I'm getting it out of the way now and not while I'm travelling. Speaking of which this week is Ocotber which means I only have 1 month left!

Have spoken to James a few times lately and we've sorted out a rough itinerary for our trip in November. So far it's going to be:

Edinburgh (for about 5 days together before his lease runs out), Dusseldorf, Luxemboug (only 3 years later than we originally planned... better late than never!), Frankfurt, Dresden, Poland (not sure where yet though), Bratislava, Prague, then Rome to catch our flight to New York on the 21st of December.

Is going to be awesome!! Off to bed for more sleep!
